Creating Cabins and allocating and monitoring bed space
Your camp's cabins are created in the Cabin Definition screen found by clicking on the "Cabins" button on the Main Menu screen.
In the Cabin Definition screen, you see the Cabin Definition Table on the left where you input the cabin name (cabin names must be unique), cabin group, cabin gender and grade and the maximum number of campers in the cabin (this is usually the number of beds in the cabin allotted for campers). The number you assign for "Max Campers" is campers only. This does not include counselors or staff. If the maximum number of beds in the cabin is 10 and you have two counselors/staff in the cabin then the Max Campers would be 8.
After inputting cabin data, click the "Refresh Data" button to calculate current totals.
The table on the right provides current information regarding camp registration and available beds for each camp group/age. This table is most useful in ensuring that you have the adequate number of beds for each type of camper. That is, the table will tell you how many JV 8th grade boys are registered and how many beds you have allocated for JV 8th grade boys. The table does not count counselors or staff - only campers.
Taco provides a calculation to show you if you have excess or a shortage of beds for each type of camper. This table is most useful for showing you how you have allocated your bed space - that is, where there are shortages and excesses. This allows you to adjust your cabins to accommodate the maximum number of campers while maintaining a coherent group of campers in the cabin.
At the top of the screen is the total camp registration and a summary of camp registration by camp group.
Taco provides two help screens in this area - one for each the Cabin Definition Table and the Cabin Summary table.
