Inputting data into the Camper Information Screen
As one of the key steps in the first group of camp-set up activities, inputting Camper Information is probably one of the most time consuming. You will probably input a number of campers at the same session but over a number of input sessions. Nobody can sit down and input hundreds of campers without a break.
TACO, however, allows you to input camper information rapidly. TACO guides you from one field to another as you press the Tab key. You can customize the order of the tab sequence by entering the Tab Sequence screen (from the Camper Information Screen click the Tab Order button at the bottom right of the screen).
Also, Taco highlights the selected field in yellow so you can quickly spot where you are located on the screen.
So, if you are a good typist, you need not look at the screen too often. Simply input the data from the form, press Tab, input the data from the next line on the application, press Tab, input the data, press Tab, etc. Be sure to verify the data after you have finished with each application. TACO is helpful but TACO does not know your campers' correct information.
Reduce key strokes:
A way to rapidly input data from members of the same family is to use the "Ctrl-'" (Control-apostrophe) key combination. Pressing this key combination will add the contents of the previous record's field to the current record's field. So, if you have several siblings to input, key in the data for the first camper. Then, for the siblings, in the fields with the same data as the previous person (i.e. address, city, state, telephone no., etc.) simply press the "Ctrl-'" key combination to automatically copy the data into the field.
The best way to enter data provided in a drop-down list (like camp, grade,
missionary, etc.) is to click on the selection in the drop-down list. Some
don’t like to use the mouse, and would rather enter data from the keyboard.
You can do this by typing the first letter of a word on the drop-down list. TACO
will fill in the rest. This works well, also. If TACO does not fill in the rest
of the word, then something is wrong and you should look a little harder at what
you are doing.
